hey guys, just wondering if anyone knows if a 69 roadrunner is supposed to have a reverse light around the dash area? The guy rebuilding my wiper motor is wondering because apparently there is extra wiring in the wiper motor for a 4 speed with a in cab reverse light. The wiper motor I sent him does not have the wiring for that, but it may not be the original to the car. Thanks for any input

4speed cars had a reverse light on the dash. Auto’s did not.

The ones with the four speed has

So is it this type of light?

First picture wires to and from trans switch.
Second picture reverse light.
Third picture shows the connector and two wires to the "wiper" block, but note the third jumper wire, in my hand, that goes to the bottom right connection point for the + output to the dash light. "Wiper" block two wires are the power feed and return to the back up lights.

Oh.. and that new black / black-white trans wire harness is a Brewers item. Here's the original off my car that had a purple feed (to trans switch) wire / black-white return, shown before I transferred the new wires to the old coupler.

Look at that correct trans bolt and lock washer:thumbsup:

Thanks for pointing out the wire difference.....Most blindly overlook that and those are the details that need to be retained!

Great job posting the pics Wayne...

I have one in the closet, but I think it's from an "E" body.Wonder if they are the same??

So are you saying there is a separate block with two wires coming off t wiper motor for the reverse lights?

Look at the third picture. That top strip connector to the firewall bulkhead connector IS the wiper motor harness. With a 4 speed you/they add the 2 wires and the connector shown that connects to the transmission switch harness that also has an extra pigtail off of it that goes where I show it in my hand (bottom right when facing the firewall). That "jumper" pigtail is the feed to the dash light. Most of these got "lost" in the early years the first time someone ripped a transmission out and couldn't be bothered to figure out how to disengage the pigtail wire from the bulkhead connector.
