Don't pass snow plows. Amazed the guy survived

Wonder if they identified and charged the semi driver? Looks like it was hauling a military style vehicle..

crazy ****
glad to see the plow driver survived
could have been far worse

we see it here too

impatient dumb a$$ drivers, no driven Ivan's

they usually end up in a ditch a few miles up ahead

You wouldn't believe what snow plow drivers go through.
Many moons ago in a place not far away a certain county cop used to pull out in from of a certain plow driver.
One day the cop was in our building and was told the next time he did that he would find himself plowed off the road. The cop laughed and basically dared the plow driver.
Sure enough the cop was in his usual place. He saw the ow coming but he saw nothing else. The driver grabbed a gear and pushed that cop a ways then swerved and dumped him to the side.
It was almost right in front of the maintenance building. The driver pulled into the lot and everyone was laughing. He got out, asked what was so funny so they told him.
His response? "I didn't see him. Too much snow".
Funny, we never saw that cop again.

that is a horrendous crash and i Hope they find the truck driver and charge him too.

on the flip side, sometimes you arent even safe in Front of the plow......

my ex was coming along a back country road,on which there is a bridge.
she stopped before the bridge as she watched a snowplow come down the road and onto the bridge..
she thought she would be nice and just let him do whatever he might need to.
the road goes down on a slight grade to the bridge and then goes back Up.
there is almost a half mile stretch Before the bridge.

the plow kept coming Until it Hit her and smashed the van.
kept..coming,clear visibility,at plowing speed still plowing,Right into her stationary van.
then,he calls it in as her Hitting him,
even tho it was clearly HIS fault and then drives away and leaves her alone in the countryside with a baby and a dead van,in the middle of the wintertime.

i raised Hell with the town and the state police, nooooobody cared.
they paid us for that van, but, that plow truck driver got away with it scot free.

I spent six season's running a plow truck on the Coquihalla highway here in B.C., and have seen my share of asshats in both large and small vehicles on that road! I ran fixed, reversible and wing truck...in storms so bad I can see to the edge of the hood...and that was it! One winter I had a guy try and pass me, I had already slowed down from 40 to 30 kph to allow a crew cab with co-workers as well as 5-6 vehicles by me, as I was plowing roughly 6-10 inches of snow from the fast lane to the slow lane (snowing hard and still coming down!). After I got back to speed (40 kph), this guy tries to go by me when I feel a bump (running up against a no-post on my left side...k-rail for the U.S. peeps), this Ford pickup comes across my front plow sideways and nails the concrete barrier, then bouncing along it until he can get control of his vehicle and move it over to the shoulder. I radio my foreman, and pull in behind him to see if he is okay, left front end of truck is smashed, both side windows of crew can blown out, box is creased from coming across my plow....he is a tow job of the hill....ZERO damage to my truck!!! He did try to put partial blame on me through our insurance corporation, but considering that when I first asked him if he was okay after the accident...and his response was "That was the stupidest, ******* thing I ever did!".....they found him at fault 100%!!!! We would plow and sand at 60 kph, and if there is ANYTHING on the road...debris, sticks, broken tire chains...whatever.....it was coming OFF my plow and going to the right......so if you want to pass.....feel free to "eat" whatever I am going to feed you, because you are an idiot...and deserve it! Sorry to sound harsh.....but I do not care for one second about anyone who tries to pass a plow truck either on the right or left.....we are out there in the worst possible storms, trying to maintain a road....when some ignorant prick does **** like that!!!

Google "Highway thru hell"...to see some of the footage on the Coq….a local tv show about a towing company that works it.

Not for nothing, but I drive a semi for a living. That semi driver was traveling downhill with a load, and more than likely, that DOT plow truck was doing half the posted speed limit with NO WARNING that he was there. Should that semi have committed suicide to save the idiot DOT driver? I don't think so!!! They should have escort vehicles just like I need with an oversize load. I am not saying that idiots don't hit plow drivers, but in my experience, the plow truck drivers are CLUELESS!!! Typical state workers!! If the interstate is open, the plow truck has NO right to be in the fast lane doing 30 MPH. THAT'S THE LAW!!!

you may be 100% right...BUT.
the truck driver did Not stop after causing a Wreck.

i sure hope you arent going to tell me that truck driver didnt know he wrecked that guy off a cliff.

He was on E-Logs and on a hard schedule.:lol::lol:

now that was a movie worth watching!!
one of my favs,i kept hoping there would be another sequel.

Yes it does. Anyone may drive slower than the minimum if conditions or circumstances warrant.

And I used to drive those trucks. Try plowing snow at 60 mph.

When I was a teenager I was driving in the slow lane on a non highway road when I came up to a man in the left lane driving below the speed limit. I kept my speed and slowly passed him. Not trying to pass him, just keeping up my speed at the limit. I few seconds later a cop pulled me over and gave me a ticket for improper lane usage. I told him I wasn't racing around him in the right lane, just keeping my speed. He said he knew that but it was still improper lane usage which means no passing on the right. Went to court, was told I was wrong and wrote a check or if I didn't, can't remember, but they would win and I was wrong so pay up and shut up. To this day I'm very careful not to pass reguardless of how fast the other driver is going. Bottom line, with snow flying out of the right side of the plow I would never pass him on the right , period. The trucker was wrong. IMO. I still think to this day that cop took advantage of a young kid.you tell me. As an old man now, I have sued the state for stupid **** and won, but, it takes deep pockets and a good lawyer. It would have easier to pay up and move on. Sometimes I just don't care, sometimes, someone needs to take them to task. I'm your huckleberry!!

In this state if you don't pass on the right you will never get anywhere. People park their *** in the left lane, and refuse to move out of the way.

Normally I agree with you on lots of things but I think your wrong on this one. Here in Pa failure to have YOUR vehicle under control at all times is YOUR fault. He was going to fast for the roads condition and ran into him. It is very easy to see a clear path knowing that there is a plow truck ahead therefore caution must be used. I also know some Penn Dot drivers here and none of the snow plow drivers do the speed limit on the highways while plowing snow. That being said I do not think there is a law that says they must do the speed limit when it's ice and snow either actually you can get a fine for doing the speed limit if roads conditions are not favorably for it...

I don't want to get into a pissing contest with anyone regarding how their state will or will not plow a road, and what is considered legal for that area...here in B.C., I have plowed and sanded a road at 30 kph! We will start on the fog line (yellow line) on the left hand side and move the snow to the right...it does not matter if the road is a single lane or multi lane...that is how we do it....on the east coast of Canada, on the 401, with upwards of 6 lanes or more, the highway crews will plow the whole road at one shot with many trucks....and what they call blockers, who WILL prevent you from getting close to the plow trucks...with FULL support of the OPP!!! As far as the trucker coming down the hill and hitting the plow truck.....I am not sure why he did that and why he did not stop, I have driven long haul myself....and I don't think I would ever put someone into a ditch and keep driving???? Lots of unanswered questions with that video!!!
