You could try on a buffing wheel....they are stainless steel covers, so it should be fine.
I did my bumper bolts by putting them in a drill, and buffing them on a Brasso soaked rag that was secured to my bench. They came up mint as. Brasso is a mild abrasive liquid in case you were not aware.
Oh yeah. Mine are original from 1970 and certainly shine better than when they were new.
Bench grinder motor with buffer wheel on it. Wenol, Brasso or even a mild rubbing compound for automotive paint can work.
