    Good morning All...

I have a 67' Coronet with a 318 that came with a 2 bbl that needed to be replaced. My son bought, and installed a new Holly 4160 and a new manifold.
The engine runs great. very happy with the change out.
However,,, The car no longer downshifts. We hooked up the linkage just like it was. I was wondering if someone can advise us on how to readjust the downshift rod to accommodate the new carburetor?

Usually the aftermarket intake/carb moves all the linkage forward, so you need to extend/lengthen the kickdown. The '67 should have the 3-piece kickdown so it might be able to compensate for the longer adjustment. On some of my cars, I just cut the top kickdown rod, and welded in a small length of rod to extend them.

For adjustment, the maximum length should have the kickdown lever on the trans all the way back when the carb is fully open. This might cause the car to kick down too soon, so then you can turn the adjustment in to shorten it a bit.
