So I've been chasing to catch a break so my family could relocate to the US (currently in Sweden). I've been flown in for interviews with Google, I've spent days talking to recruiters but nothing until now.
A company (Swedish) is starting up a solution hub in Denver, CO and during the interview he wanted me to come back with a price - what salary am I expecting. Said I needed to think about it for a while and get back to him after the weekend. And this is where I'm lost.
So I wonder if anyone of you guys are into solution architecture (TV software domain) or anywhere close? Today the gross household income in sweden is around $150K but since we have one of the highest text pressure in the world - the net household income lands at about $80K
Relocating the family would involve my wife to stay home until the kids get into the language and the way of living in the US, so my income must cover all of it. Also we're thinking about renting out our Swedish house to have something to return to if things don't work out (wife's and kid's call) which means we're looking at rental properties to start with. Say that we can't find someone to rent our house to and end up paying for it during the "trial period" that would set us back about $800 per month (yea, I know. Swedish mortgage rates are crazy low at 1.8% 5 year fixed) and a decent rental property in Denver would run about $2500....
TL;DR:
OP wonders how much money a solution architect makes and what numbers would be appropriate to ask for. There's an insurance/dental/medical package which is included in the deal. Anyone?
