dual pick up dist

I've a buddy that has a late model dual pick up electronic dist,my ? is are they a good or bad thing ?...THANX!

the secondary pickup is just for start saving lean burn so can be simply not used ( although use it is just about ad some wires and relay )... The rest of the setup will depend of springs and mechanical advace plate was set up for the car originally was, same as any other dist.

I've got a shaft out of one of those distributors and IIRC they don't have weights or springs; they're simply start/run.
