Electric Impact Guns

Looking for something to travel with so I started eyeballing electric impact guns. Not looking for a battery powered one...but rather one with a cord.

Experiences, effectiveness, brand recommendations etc...

Most are poor quality. Snapon is pretty good. Stay away from store brand like pep Boys.

I love my battery powered Snap-on, the half inch will remove/break lug nuts. But again it is battery powered and 500 bucks.

I have a pretty cheap Dewalt that I've been beating the crap out of for about 5 years and it still snaps the heads off of 1/2 lag bolts if i'm not careful. Mostly home construction / fence / deck construction these days. Bought it in Home Depot.

Bought a Crapsman back in the 70's and it lasted over 20 years and torn down bunches of engines with it. The plastic handle finally cracked otherwise, it would probably still be working.

I agree with the fella's on the Snap On.....I was impressed first time I used it. Not what I expected. Like mentioned, not cheap.

Well IR makes some of the best Air Impact's on the market...I'm sure they probably did their homework to dial in a decent Batt/powered. What are they getting for one of those?

Just the gun is about $250. The hard case w/gun, charger & batt about $400

That's not too bad........Paid 400-500 for my air IR's and they need an air compressor wherever they go.

I had one that I used on a construction sites for many years, I still have it somewhere, I use my Ingersal/Rand air tools around my shop usually thou....

I agree!!! I do love my 18V Dewalt Hammer Drill, but as far as power tools, the milwaukee's are tough as nails. My orbital Sawzall is an absolute monster, 4.5" grinders are almost impossible to snub out without breaking a wrist and the 110V 1/2" drill I have is at least a couple decades old. They really are respectable tools.

I have had an old IR with a cord for about 30 years or better and it still will break a stud every once in awhile. I use it when rotating tires on our daily drivers, less work.

I have probably the same gun that I bought from Sears in the 70's, it was a rebuilt unit when purchased. It has been used mostly for deck building with occasional other uses. It is still going strong today, it doesn't owe me anything if it quit working. No way you could buy one like it today USA made.
