Got a 400 with aluminum heads and water pump. Need to install the accessories like A/C, alternator, P/S pump, etc. The motor was assembled without the accessories. With aluminum, should I go by FSM says or is a different torque spec for aluminum? Also, advice on thread sealer for water pump.

Thanks

Anyone???????

I always use torque specs on anything internal but accessories..... I just use my built in torque wrench haha. Here's my opinion on aluminum, the rule of thumb is you want a thread depth equal to the bolt diameter on steel so when bolting to aluminum I like to have a little extra depth (example 1/2" depth or more for a 3/8" bolt). Do this and you'll be fine, it's also a good idea to lube the threads with antiseize since aluminum gulls easily. For areas that go into the water jacket a good RTV will do the job plus I've had good luck with Permatex #2 as well.

Thanks. Wanted to make sure between aluminum and cast iron on what to use
