Just wondered what your thoughts were on what happened Sunday 20/Sept at the T&T and whether the true potential of the car shone out, or weather the Tailwind on day(10>15mph) helped....some facts>

Track>...SPRaceway, temp similar to before, same level of grip, DA very similar to before around 1100ft.
Car>......Identical settings as before
Driver> Was a bit off and the launch technique bit different, using more converter on hit.

Prior best to date was 10.45@125>126, with consistent 1.43 60's. ran 127.5 once..
With a Headwind between 10>20mph.

Made 4 runs on the day, but the 2 of note were>
1. [email protected] with a 1.50 60, 6.62 1/8th
2. [email protected] with a 1.48 60, 6.59 1/8th
10>15mph Tailwind
I doubt if the 60's being a bit off would make the car almost 4mph faster and pick up a 1/10th??.....3800lb RRunner.

I picked up 3 MPH at a race with a tailwind some years ago.

i was watching a bit Sat and Sun . Seemed like they were having intermittant timing issues . The announcer called several cars as never having been close to the timeslip then they seemed to have right lane down for a while ?
I did see the Plymouth run in qualifying

Tex

Same track, D/A within 200ft. 9 mph headwind 145.9, 8 mph tailwind 149.9

Yep I thought so guys, needed it confirmed..thanks, shame was hoping it may have 129mph in it or close to it on pure hp:(, wishful thinking really as not everyone picked up big on mph....guess the only way to find out is to have a day where there is virtually no head or tailwind which is pretty much impossible on any large open space.

Good information there from one of the best. Thank you. We were racing at Cecil Co. in our '63 Plymouth. The air was good, but not great. I expected to run low, 10.90's at near 124 MPH. Best the car would run was 10.999 @122 MPH. There was a 15 MPH head wind almost all day long. Photo is from Maple Grove the week before.
Frustration at MG 2020.jpg
Thanks again.

The 2-5 MPH change with wind direction could be expected. A cross wind could cause nearly as much loss as a straight headwind. My experience with my low 11 to mid 10 '65 Coronet. My Arrow less effect with the smaller cross section, duh.

Well today was our last outing for the year, Sat was a washout, but got 3 runs in today, was a cross wind from what I saw, DA was superb @600ft or less, but track and weather very cold, ran our best [email protected] at 10.50 ET with a 6.782 1/8th and a slow 1.52 60ft....then a 1.45 60 with a bigger burnout and a 6.58 1/8th and a 10.37 almost our best (10.35) but at only 126.88, so really not sure how much that wind effected things, more down to the 60's I think.
