Exhaust near fuel filter

This is the best place I could find to mount the fuel pump. It's a little more than 1/2 inch from the exhaust pipe behind the muffler. I was thinking about a heat shield. Any opinions? Am I gonna hear the fuel up?

Absolutely it will heat the fuel; imagine holding you hand that close to the exhaust for an unlimited amount of time. A shield will not be enough, IMO; you need to move it. Make some bracket or whatever you need to do to move it; just a small fender bender and the filter breaks off right on the exhaust pipe.....
