exhaust system reroute 1970 charger

First off i use Holley Sniper EFI with an in tank pump fueltank, this summer the pump has been making more noice after a few miles driving and it might be a heat issue and i was thinking if it would be possible to bulid a Challenger T/A side tips style on a 70 Charger. What do y'all think?

Yeah, it can be done as the Charger's belly is very similar to the E cars but it doesn't have the factory hanger mounts that's on the T/A etc.

However, those are likely separate unrelated issues.
Side exits on our cars IMO seem rather inefficient flow wise and more cosmetic than anything. I'd rather see simplified under the axle possible exhaust routing explored. That are based on how often does a rear axle ever go:
a. Full droop
b. and why can't a tailpipe mounting system have an inch? of give on full droop when doing the occasional General Lee airborne river crossing jumps

The pump being submerged in the tank should be getting cooled by the fuel. I doubt the tail pipes are heating the pump.
Also, I never liked how it sounds with a T/A-AAR style exhaust. You only hear the 4 cylinders firing out each side. It doesn't have that good sound like when both exits out the rear.

I would look into taking the tailpipe over the rear, and then side exit behind the rear tires. Gotta go between frame and spring? Been done!
But I agree with 6pkrtse, it's probably not your tailpipes causing the problem. It's probably a garbage in-tank pump. I DESPISE in-tank pumps, and no car of mine will have any system on it (aftermarket) that requires an in-tank pump.
(I threw away a nice car when the third in-tank pump failed, and I have a ccamaro Z28 that needs one too. Step one, according to the books? Remove entire independent rear end for tank access. F#@k that!
Also agree on sidepipe sound. I have a fenderwell headers car,, mufflers exit in front of the rear tires. It's quiet, but i still don't like the sound.

I’m with you there, even when I converted my Vette to EFI they said in tank return style is the best, but you can do external with no return. I didn’t even have to think about, I hate dropping tanks. I went external PWM, I cheated and didn’t even drop the tank on the Vette to connect the new lines.
On the third and fourth gen F bodies they often just cut an access hole in the floor, but with an independent rear I’m guessing you have a fifth or sixth gen?
Back on topic I also doubt the tailpipes are causing a heat issue but you could always put some stick on heat insulation on the bottom of the tank over the pipes for extra peace of mind.
