factory sway bar

I have a 65 Belvedere with a factory sway bar. I have new bushings for it. Has anyone installed new bushings in theirs? if so, how were they installed? Did you press them in? The bracket that attaches to the strut rod has the bushing that appears to be a struggle. Did you have to cut the bottom of the bracket and then reweld it after the bushing was installed or were you able to just press it in? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Yes you have to cut the pinch weld on the bracket but dont weld it after you will melt the new bushing. Instead drill a 3/8 or so hole through BEFORE you cut and use a bolt and nut.

Is this the bracket and bushing that you are talking about?
I added a factory sway bar to my 64 but I don't recall how I assembled those parts...

Yes, that is the bracket that I’m asking about. How to you get that rubber bushing in? The old rubber bushing is pliable where as the new one is very stiff.

The rubber bushing that I have is pliable and I'm thinking that to install it. I would mount the bracket in a vice then lube up the bushing with some silicone compound then wedge it in using a screw driver.
Just an idea..
