After watching the original Vanishing Point I was ready to sell everything and buy a '70 Challenger, then I saw Joy Ride and I had to have a '71 Chrysler Newport with the bench seats, and the white vinyl top....until I saw Christine and HAD to find me a big winged '57-'59 Plymouth, and then came Duel and I would kill for a cute little 225 Valaint!!

I'm constantly fighting with myself as I can never seem to figure out what my favorite car is. I'm always trying to narrow all the things I like the most into the perfect, SINGLE, automobile. One that accomplished all the things I like, and looks and feels the way I like it.

So far I have this: It's built between 1955-1970. It has two doors, is a mid sized car (for the time), it has to be big enough to pile some friends up in for a night out, has a small v-8 (moderate street power and decent efficiency), is not a multimillion dollar, matching numbers, original paint, original hose clamp car that I have to obsess about everytime I park it at a Walmart, is a hardtop, is rear wheel peal, has back seats, has the front vent windows, does NOT have a/c, does NOT have power windows, has a manual transmission, is geared for the highway not the quartermile, does not have a plastic grille, and there isn't 18,000,000 of them at every car show, or cruise in (ie, probably not a Chevy).

If I had to pick a few, these would be them...i think,

1957 Plymouth Fury 318 poly
1969 Ford Fairlane Fastback 351w
1965 Plymouth Satellite 318 poly or 383
1968 Dodge Coronet 318 or 383
1956 Plymouth Fury
1966 Dodge Charger
1963 Ford Galaxie XL 500 390
1950 Dodge Wayfarer two door fastback
1966 Amc Rambler Rogue 290
1966 Chrysler Newport 383
1970 Plymouth Satellite 318 or 383

All of the above in the two door hardtop body style (NO B-Pillars!!) except for the '50 Dodge.

What makes your favorite car?

And if applicable, what is YOUR favorite car?

It's actually easy for me, `68 Charger R/T, console 4 speed and it need not have the optional Hemi, but I wouldn't be upset if it was. A close second would be `68 Coronet R/T. Of course, I am very partial to the "JUNKYARD DOG" which I have put my heart and soul into over the last several years and I will allways own that car. `68's are my favorite!!!

Well then were back to the other thread, mine still the 69 RR and 70 RR But a list of my favorite cars? Thats quite a list of cars i would love to own, NOW were into more writing space. Theirs so many id like, so many ive had in the past that would fill this page. im 65 and have had a lot of cars back in those "there just cars" days and id like to have almost every one of them. the two i mention here and i had a 68 RR have a 73 RRC, 67 Charger 65,66,72, (2 of them) Chevelles, 57 chevy, 62 Thunderbird, 71 Torino, 64 Falcon,59 Imperial, 58 Caddy, Two 63 Impala SS and a 64 SS, ect ect. all meet what i want in a car list goes on and on for my favorite car they all meet my requirements. Im 1/2 asleep long night of hurt so i know ive missed a lot of cars but these all meet most of the requirements for myself. Maybe not all anyone else s but mine as his list does him. and i know these aren't all, take a page for the ones ive never own and would love to own...

It was a 1958 fuel injected 290 h.p. 4 speed Corvette with power windows and power top with 44,000 miles. It was the original paint silver blue with inca silver cove insert, silver blue interior, and silver blue convert top. I paid top dollar for it of $6300. and sold it in 1984 to a guy in New Zealand for $15K. A few years later they were selling for north of $60K when we had the first big upsurge in muscle car prices, oh well.

It is the one car that over the years I wish I had never sold.

"It is the one car that over the years I wish I had never sold. " I don't blame you, Wouldn't it have been nice back then to know what we know now, that small sentence is one ive heard and repeated myself more times then not. Thats a nice looker It to me was one of the better ones. best looker, Thats how i feel about my 69 RR.. But Oh well.

And now you need to watch "The Big Fish" . Then the 66 Charger would top your wish list and you already have one!

I like your wish list. Alot of variety there. You might be thinking of the little 1950 Plymouth fastback though, as the Wayfarer line consisted of a roadster, a business coupe with huge trunk, and a boxy 2 door sedan with a stubby trunk that wasn't really a fastback.
Oh, and the 70 Satellite does have a plastic grille. Sorry.

I make lists like this in my head all the time, but I always end up with way too many Mopars, and at least 10 Fords, 10 GM, and a handful of trucks, imports, and AMCs. Its always hard to settle on just a few favorites.
Lucky for me, I'm big into collecting 1/18 scale diecast cars, so at least some of my many favorites sit on shelves in my family room.

I think my favorite car ever, my Holy Grail of Mopars, would be an Electric Blue 68 Barracuda Formula S 340 convertible with either automatic or 4 speed on the console, deluxe white and black interior, white side stripes, white convertible top, and loaded with every option except power brakes. Make mine manual disc brakes.

My Mopar favorites (in no particular order) include:
34 Plymouth coupe (street rod with a 340)
35 Dodge pickup (restored stock)
48 Plymouth Woody wagon
59 Dodge Custom Royal Lancer D-500 2 door hardtop
60 Chrysler 300-F convertible
60 Dodge Polara D-500 4 door hardtop station wagon

66 Sport Fury convertible (factory 440 of course)
66-67 Sunbeam Tiger (sold by Chrysler but had a Ford engine and Chrysler warranty)
67 Belvedere II station wagon ( preferably with a 66 Charger interior and a modern 5.7 Hemi under the hood for daily driver use)
67-69 Mexican Valiant Acapulco 2 door pillerless hardtop
68 Barracuda Formula S 340 convertible and fastback

Love it. I would perfer the model without the hoodscoop, a 318 poly, and maybe a nice 3 or 4 speed on the floor or column.

Oops, I was thinking 1950 Plymouth two door with the swoopy back, my bad.1950-Plymouth-Other-260664318331-1-l.jpg

I had a 1970 Plymouth Satellite. That was one of the things about the car I didn't like. All the plastic on the dash, and grille. It didn't hold up well, and it just seemed cheap to me when in just a year or two before they were using stainless steel, or aluminum for the grille. I like and interior with classy trimmings. A nice car you can escort a sexy lady around in on a Saturday night, and all the chrome twinkling around her...nice. Kinda makes you feel like your in a movie.

I have to scratch the Satellite and the Coronet, and add that 1964 Polara, and a car I just remembered:

1963-4 Mercury Marauder. Saw one at a gas station one night and it's beauty was so overpowering my knees almost gave out! It was even a little beat up...but that's the way I like em, worn in.

I'm VERY fortunate to actually own my favorite. I do really like Belvedere hardtops(the minimal trim looks great on that body),but you can't beat the classy look of a Sport Fury interior-IMHO.

I will say this: two cars that I've owned(and wish I still did!) that came real close were a genuine 1968 Z/28,and a 1965 Olds Cutlass with the bucket seat interior,console/floor shift, tach, and the 10.25:1 c.r. 330 inch mill. Had to run good gas/octane booster in both, but they both were fun. That Olds was light and quicker than it looked;surprised more than a couple of bigger-engined cars in its time.

If I could have 10 musclecars I reckon they'd all be Mopar before i got on to any Brand Xers, but being from across the pond, maybe I'm more aware of other countries cars.

But I've always thought (the question comes up from time to time on our UK Mopar forum) if I could only have 1 dream car, it would have to be the Lamborghini Miura SV. Almost certainly the first and most certainly not the best supercar, I'd just have to have one cos of the looks :notworthy:
