69 Coronet, is the ONLY way to replace the Filler neck grommet to lower or drop the tank? Tried oil on the tube, just wrong angle... Grrrrr!!!

Thanks in advance!

Mine seems a little more difficult to get the FILLER neck back into. I can get the grommet in fine. Seems on a Coronet, I cannot get enough ANGLE to get the filler back in..
Thanks!!!

Hmm, maybe Im fighting it too hard? That or my tank has a funny angle! I may take some pics
Thanks DadsKernBee

Seems, like (where paint is chipped?) Is stopping me from getting a straight in angle.
I know its gonna be a snug fit, unlike the rotten leaky trash that came out. Maybe try soap? I tried motor oil, not much help there. Maybe put filler neck in freezer overnight?
Does appear MY tank has a little bit of an angle to the rear of it.

Its just one of those things ya walk away from, come back tomorrow (Bigger Hammer) & it goes as planned..
NOW: I need that bracket, from filler neck to nut-clip!
Probably new gas cap, as I beat on the damn opening w/Block of wood & hammer to get it started..

Thanks for the Help!!

I replaced the tank on my 67 Coronet. Could not get the tube in with a new grommet. Finally had to use the old one, went right in.
