I finally got around to adding a fuel return line. I’m routing it from the return side on the bottom of the fuel pressure regulator. I did have to drill a hole in my fuel sender for a fitting I sourced online. Really not that difficult. I am going to attach a hose to the fitting to make sure the hot fuel dumps along the bottom. Tried really hard to find a sender that allowed for a return line but never found one. This modification is to fix the vapor lock issue I constantly have.
Just in case anyone is looking into doing this as well.

Yep I need to do the same, were did you buy the nipple?

The only sealant that handles fuel IMHO is PRC (aircraft fuel tank sealant), but you wouldn't want to pay for it. I'd replace the washers with oil pan style bonded o ring washers, that are a metal washer with built in O ring that protrudes from both sides.

In hindsight for you, I would have drilled a 1/4" hole and soldered in a 1/4" metal tube for the return.

Agreed, this is the way I’m going to do it with the tube going into the fuel to prevent excess vapour and aeration etc by the fuel just dumping into the top of the tank. Is a 1/4” return line enough? Or should it be the same size as the supply?

To the OP let us know if this cures your problem

Yes, most of the research I did said 1/4" return line would suffice. Specially if your supply line is 5/16". Having said that, i see not issue with also making it the same diameter as the supply line.

I will keep everyone posted on the progress as requested.

No need for anything bigger than 1/4"... return is nothing but a pin hole at the engine separator. The return on a stock unit turns 90* into the tank, but sideways not down. Gives the tube a "brace" point to attach to the supply tube

Well, it’s been a little longer than a week now driving the car with the addition of the 1/4” return line. The long cranks to get the engine started after driving a while are gone. Car usually starts now right after I turn the key without having to give it throttle. Definitely worth it to add the return line.

Where did you buy your return line?
