Finally got one

I don’t know ‘Virg’, John Browning seemed to know what he was doing! 110yrs for the 1911 and getting close on the .50BMG( that the govt still uses).
True. We used the M82A1 (Barrett) while I was on active duty and I wish I owned one, a 750g FMJBT round and anything inside 400yds is basically point blank. Does it get any better? I know some folks don't like the slap of the 15lb spring on the 1911 and anything that keeps me on target, I like. All that said, I agree 110yrs tells ya something.

Loaded up some cartridges for the Garand this evening.
150 grain bullet
Remington brass
IMR 4895

4 rounds with 46 grains
4 rounds with 46.5 grains
4 rounds with 47 grains

I’m going to see how they cycle, and pick the one I feel is best.

I've never fired soft tip rounds trough mine, afraid the tip my get deformed during feeding from the clip and affect the ballistics. Have you ever noticed anything like that? Maybe the odd round that flies off on it's own or something like that?
