Team, I have a set of Legendary floor carpets for my 70 RR, it fits ok but doesn’t follow the floor contour well, anyone see any harm in using contact adhesive in areas that need to follow the contours of the floor better???

I’ve heated it and shaped it a little better but still far from VERY good

I see them do carpets on Graveyard Carz. They use steam to mold the carpet in hard to fit areas. Heat works too as stated by Crash520.

When fitting all the seats, console, boots, sill plates, seat belts need to be out so it can move.
Yep that’s what I have, all out trying to get the carpet to sit nice

If there are other parts of the car you also need to work on, save the carpet for a time of year when the weather is HOT. Set the carpet out in the sun to get soft before installation.

Avoid using a heat gun, it's like trying to weld aluminum, it can sideways from good to junk really fast.

I used to install extra carpet padding (NOT the glued together rubber stuff) underneath the aftermarket carpeting. It came closer to matching what the factory had glued to the originals carpets, and worked as additional sound deadening. If I remember correctly it was 1/8" or 1/4"

I use a steamer to help remove some of the shipping box wrinkles during installation. And then I use the 3M 77 spray upholstery glue on some parts of the carpet to hold in place. Like under the rear seat and kick panel sides, just makes a better looking job, imho....

That’s my plan, prob glue the driveshaft tunnel and a couple of other spots, I have my ECU under the passenger front seat, the harness runs from the firewall along side the trans tunnel so I need access to that

I used strips of industrial Velcro in a few places where my carpet didn't want to behave. I wouldn't use any kind of glue because that would be a future righteous pain if you ever needed to replace the carpet again.
