Hello everyone, I’ve been reading plenty of your threads, about everything. Everything Mopar! I thought it about time I joined in. I’m finally giving my poor, old girl the attention she needs, and deserves. I bought her back about 6 months after I met my wife, and now it’s been 28 years, plus. She’s a 1970 Charger 500 with the original 383 2 brl with original engine, trans, and rearend, and I think the original interior. She’s always been, since I’ve had her, garage kept. She does have,at present, an Edlebrock 650 and aluminum intake. She’s always ran well until just a few weeks ago. I’d rather not go into it, but shame on me. Now, I’m going to do a complete rebuild of the, dues paid, old-reliable 383. I want to do a 1970 stock Road Runner/Super Bee 383hp 4brl. I could really use some of the advice given around here. And what the specs are to tell my engine builder, who is extremely experienced but not a mopar guy. Thanks, looking for any help I can get

Welcome from Missouri!!

Welcome from NY.
I suggest you find some mopar books and do a little reading.

Welcome from Michigan, the Motor City! 440'

Cool deal....and being extremely experienced helps but if he never worked on a Mopar engine before, then mistakes can be made since the big block Mopars are built differently than GM and Ford stuff. If ask him if he opens up the oil pump to check the rotor face clearance. Very few do but it's part of a good build.

Welcome from Alabama, a 70 service manual will give you the all the spec's on the 383 HP. Looks to me like just a compression ratio and cam change to go with the rebuild.

Nice Charger welcome to FBBO

Welcome aboard Sir, from the middle of the mitten. Nice charger!!!

Welcome aboard from NJ. Very nice car! I love the 70 Chargers! Best of luck with your rebuild!

Thanks everyone. I’ve done a lot to her, but never re-did the engine. Really excited about doing so and getting her back to cruising. Any advice is always welcome....
