I got the engine together around 5 weeks ago and also got the oil pump primed with great oil flow through the pushrods and onto the rockers. That was 5 weeks ago. I'm getting ready to fire the engine for the first time. Should I pull the distributor and re-prime due to the elapsed time or is the initial prime still good?

I would as well. Benefits outweigh the the negatives.

You should preoil it, then verify fuel is at the carb and the ignition is working, and the cooling system is 3/4 full, then preoil again just before you fire it. Do NOT turn the engine over to prime oil or fuel systems, and if you fill the cooling system al the way up, chances are good it's going to overflow all over as it gets to operating temp. Use or make a priming shaft.
