The front brake cable coming off of the emergency brake. How does it come apart from the cross member? It looks like a sheeth for the cable inside but can't get the cable to come through it. I want to remove the whole thiing so I can paint the underside.
The manual isn't clear or not seeing it.

This is for a 71 RR BTW. Thanks

It says to "insert cable through crossmember and force housing and retaining clip into crossmember". Really?

Thats to put it in.

I almost think the end has to be squeezed together.

I found and took a look at the new cables. Plucked Chicken, your're right. The end needs to be squeezed together to rlease the little "feets" from the opposite side. Guess it dont matter if I ruin the old ones or not the new ones have them on it. Thanks

Hose clamp or I made a spacer with the right size hole inside to compress the tangs. Do not remember the size needed, long ago.
