Front Shocks Stuck

I have an odd situation where when I tried to change the front shocks the lower part is stuck in the arm. Can it be pried or air hammered somehow?
I have never had an issue with this before. Thanks for any solutions.
 
Yes you should be able to pry the two halves of the lower control arm a bit.
Or maybe rig up some way to set the car weight down and catch the lower part of the shock to push it upwards.
It certainly can be removed.
 
Well that’s the truth, they were on there from the factory. I used a crow bar and penetrating oil.
 
They can be pretty tight. The bolt closes up the tabs on both sides of the shock. Use a big screwdriver or prybar to open them up a little.
