Gas pedal position in carpet

It's funny but when I got my carpet, I was thinking "this is going to be easy-peasy, just line up the pedal pad with the top right corner of the heel pad, make the holes, and everything else will line up perfectly". It was quite the opposite. I ended up getting the carpet aligned as good as possible, melted holes for the seats with a soldering iron, and with the seats temporarily reinstalled, I made the holes and rectangle cut for the pedal pad last. I wasn't about to pay return shipping on the carpet and hope I didn't get back the same mis-aligned heel pad because it's a well-documented issue. I just made do the best I could. Like Risky Business, "Sometimes you gotta say WTF".

I'd have been thrilled if my heel pad were that close...
On the carpet I bought for my 62 Belvedere, the pad was set back to the seat with the pedal floating in the carpet. I took pictures and measurements and sent it back and the company made it to my specs. I can't remember who it was though.

You probably have enough picture data at this point, but here's a shot of mine. I have most of the forward area gutted for a 4 spd swap/heater core/ windshield replacement. Fun times!
