Going to a 4 post Advantage lift.

The MaxJax worked great for me. I'm advancing in age and find it difficult to get down on the floor to position for a 2 post lift. I have no complaints on the MaxJax, it's a great unit but a younger and more flexible guy is what's needed for it. I've decided on a 4 post Advantage Classic as it suits an advanced age (I just turned 66 the other day) guy like me. Reality is a bitter pill but it is what it is. I need something I can just drive on and do work.

I'm OLD. I'm not ashamed to admit it. I'm not as quick or mentally adept as I was 10 years ago. If others would admit to it, the USA would be better off for it. Some others at 70+ may be better off than me, I won't deny it. But I calls 'em like I see's 'em and I'm not the man I used to be. Not whining, I accept reality and live life accordingly. If you are not the person you were 10 years ago, physically or mentally. Accept it.

I got two 4-post lifts in my shop, best dang things I've ever bought! I figure its the only way I'm gonna keep these old cars around and enjoy the hobby as I get older....plus your friends stop over alot more. They make simple oil changes kinda fun.

I'm looking to add a 4-post soon just to gain some space. The 2-post I'll keep around as it keeps me in shape doing push-ups. I must do at least twenty of them when bouncing around to move all 4 legs positioning a car.

I just bought five four post lifts this year. I doubled my storage space in the back of my garage. I still have the two post asymmetrical lift and the scissor lift in the work bays. My friend taught me that in order to work civilized you need a lift in the shop.

At 66 I was still moving around pretty good but just 5 years later, not as well.

It took a lot of years to finally get the garage to where it is starting to be a functional place to work in and store the cars. I built the garage in 2006 and it didn't take long before it was affectionately known as the indoor junkyard! I have it fairly well hidden from the street behind a 6 foot fence. It looks like an over sized two car garage from the street. These pictures show the back of the garage before the lifts were installed.

Night and day with the organization since the lifts were installed it appears. Much better with the lifts IMO.

When I first built my shop I had 2 of my nicest cars in 2 different storage buildings and the places were packed full of parts with a couple more cars sitting outside at my new place. Bought the house on an undeveloped 1/2 acre lot with no garage at all. Once the shop was dried in, I brought everything home and promptly filled up the shop. Doing that was a mistake since there were no work benches or shelving in the place yet. Did something similar years later when I rented another storage building for all the extra stuff I collected over the next 15-18 years. After deciding that I had way more 'stuff' than I wanted and selling off about 75% of the contents of the storage building, I brought the rest home and filled up the shop again. Got rid of a lot of that but now my enclosed trailer is getting full to the point where it would take a pretty good effort to clean it out to actually use it as a trailer!

It is amazing how much stuff you can accumulate in a fairly short amount of time. When I built the garage I had eight Mopars and enough parts to fill about half of the loft,as of this year, before doing the lifts,the loft was so full that you couldn't walk around up there,and it's 34x60. And the back of the garage looked like the before pictures, the front work area was just as bad and non functional, and I have 24 Mopars! It is still 100 pounds of **** in a 5 pound bag,but it is getting better and in the spring I have a half dozen project cars I am hoping to get ready to sell.
