GPS speedometer choices?

I considered a GPS speedo when I built my gauge cluster, but I settled on an AutoMeter electronic speedo.

It was my understanding that the the GPS speedo can be kinda' weird when you first start the car and you have to find a good spot for the antenna. Those issues might be overblown, but the electronic speedo was cheaper and once it's calibrated, it just works. Calibration just requires you to measure a two-mile long route, activate calibration mode, drive the route, then push a button.

I used a Speedhut GPS speedometer in my 58. They were able to customize the face of the speedometer to match the SW Greenline gauges and other features like the bezel, pointer and backlighting were also customizable. I also opted for the the turn signal and high beam indicators for a very clean overall look. They did a matching tach for me as well. Great product and they are very easy to work with.

GPS triangulates off of satellites, electronic requires a transducer on the trans or driveline. A nice feature of GPS is you can change to an overdrive, change the gear ratio or tire size without needing to recalibrate the speedometer.

Yep, Dakota Digital starts around $2K, name brand electric gauges are pricey too by the time you buy the required sending units, mounting solutions and hardware.

I just have one on my phone with a magnetic clip you can see on the right side of this pic... works great

I use a speedhut gps sensor with a stepper motor to run regular speedo. Works great, accurate
