So, I've been reading as many posts, at least the most current ones that I could find, about Group 27 batteries.

I'm looking for a reproduction Group 27(red cap) battery for my '67 R/T J-Code car.

Which one have Forum members had the best success with? I need one that has some longevity, I don't want issues with it crapping out 1 or 2 years in. This is especially critical for me given that as I'm located in Canada, and warranty, if there is such a thing on a battery, becomes a real issue because of shipping cost, customs, and all that stuff.

I'd be interested in any input provided; as well as cautions on who/what brand to stay away from.

I’ll check my paper work on mine to recommend it to you. I’ve had mine for while now and it’s great, the trickle charger never takes more than an hour, two tops, to bring it back to full and that’s after sitting for long periods in between. (ie, park the car in the fall and throw the charger on it early spring)

The company that I got my repop battery specifically restricts using a maintainer charger. Only regular battery chargers.

Why guys are killing them is from leaving them on a charger whether they're lead acid or AGM's. Lead acid, sooner or later you're going to boil it out enough to form a really good gas container and they make a really good hydrogen bomb. AGM's like to be partially discharged and then recharged at a high voltage of about 14.6 volts. If you ever wonder why your car burned up when you weren't home.... my buddy that thought leaving a tender on his Challenger this winter was a good idea!

I got one recently from Battery Central Mall. I'll know soon enough how good it is, but I haven't had one that lasted over 1 1/2 years. I was told by this company not to use a trickle charger maintainer. They told me if it became weak from non-use or discharge to charge with a charger of at least 10 amps until fully charged, and not to charge again until needed.
Also I don't think there are many manufacturers for the reproduction Mopar batteries. I don't know if its improved, but it took me almost 8 weeks to get this last one.

There is ZERO reason to leave a maintainer on a battery, or risk the practice of using same. Check it now and then, see what the voltage is and throw a REAL charger on it when you think it's getting low. General practice is charge while vehicle is tended or remove the battery from same if you're leaving it on overnight... well unless you have full replacement insurance coverage.

Hi there. Just wondering if you may have had a chance to check your paperwork?

All I could find was the maintence and care instructions. 2 sets of those and no where in them do they actually mention the company or brand. It even says “congratulations you’ve just purchase the best battery etc....” but don’t mention their own name. You think any self respecting company would take that opportunity to plug their brand yet one more time. No these guys. LolI looked through all my receipts twice too.
        Sorry

Good discussion on maintaining batteries. I see one name of a producer/supplier of the batteries in this thread. Is anyone making group 24 or 27 batteries that are close to the OEM casings?

Never put a battery tender on an AGM battery, it needs a special charger designed for them, every 2.5 months you are suppose to discharge the battery for 10 mn., down to the specific voltage written in the included instructions that came with the battery and recharge it with the proper charger. It will last for at least 7 years.
