O.K., so you said earlier that you had the FEA done before you left? Nice guy.
Hope you show them the pic's and get your money back when you get home!

My wife and I are trying to plan a long road trip with both cars. We were planning to do it in ‘20 but Covid screwed that up. I want her to see so many places in person and that’s going to be nice. Fuel prices are not likely to be any problem because that’s just part of the costs involved in doing things.

Folks: As an aside. When Barry and I took our 2015 trip in my restored 1970 Road Runner, we ended up using this picture as the cover for a book we made with pictures of our trip.

We are now working on trying to get a cool shot of the 1973 Road Runner for our cover for the next book we make. Here are a few potential contenders (there will be more).

Catches the scenery & the RIDE/JOURNEY in my opinion. Sun with shadows with car lit is a nice blend, in my opinion. KEEP THEM COMING, enjoying your journey's updates!!

So my alignment is fixed. We ended up at the right place in Sedona, and this 'old codger' Mike, who owns an alignment shop there, did my alignment.
View attachment 1290059

Mike was a great guy who truly knows his stuff as well as these old cars.

Sure enough, my toe in was bad: I had 13/64" toe in. Spec is 1/8". We also discussed caster and camber specs and we ended up at -0.1* camber and 2.9* caster. Car drives much better now too.

OK, so that problem solved. Now to check out local sights!
Them old codgers/real mechanics, that now these cars
are great people...

good it's fixed

you need to talk to the people/shop that did the org. alignment
unless maybe you changed it on the road,
doing some of the repairs, parts replacements

I made no changes to front end geometry. I'm not sure how something slips and you increase toe in, but who knows.
Hopefully I can get another 5-6 thousand miles out of the tires to finish the trip. Then they can be thrown out.

To catch up a bit, here are a couple more pictures of Lee Ferry. Lee Ferry was a really cool little spot to visit that probably most people will never get to visit - it was just dumb luck that we decided to pull in there.

On the way to Sedona we stopped by Williams, AZ. It was a nice Route 66 place to see with a lot of cool shops and restaurants.

I unfortunately didn't get any good shots of Sedona. It is a nice place with impressive views of the mountains. But we instead spent some time on the car. The first was the alignment which I already discussed. We also ended up with a stone chip in the windshield a few days ago. To try and keep it from spreading, I bought a stone chip kit.

I hope this will stop any crack from spreading through the glass. The poor car is getting abused!

We then visited Jerome, a small mining town that was famous in the early 1900's for mining copper and other minerals. We went in to a really cool museum that had a lot of history, pictures and artifacts from its mining days.

We then did some more driving on Route 66 - some nice scenery out here to see while driving.

We ended up in Henderson, NV, where Barry's niece lives.

We are getting close to California!

Looks like an awesome time.... Though by now my lower back would be giving me fits.... I've done plenty of 3-500 mile one day drives in my Challenger & other old Mopars... The next day I'm looking for the Advil...

So far we are doing OK with respect to comfort and the seats - the old Mopar bucket seats are pretty comfortable. My only complaint is the black vinyl when it is really hot. We ended up driving in the late afternoon yesterday, and the wind coming in through the windows was like a blast furnace - not cooling at all!

NZ - just short of the South Pole
Loving being along for the ride Hawk.....keep it up.

Bringing back lots of memories of my travels now.....if you get to Carson City, Nevada, look up 'Mabel's Whore House' (historical Saloon) - their motto was "Liquor in the front, Poker in the rear" ....my coffee cup has long since faded, but the memories are good. :D
