Hello,

I’m looking for some advice on HG thickness and compression ratio.

I have a 400 block that I made into a 500 stroker with all 440 source parts. I just pulled the 440 source heads and did some gasket matching.

I have been running 440 source head gaskets with no issues and they have an advertised compressed thickness of .041.

Should I run a thinner gasket and get a little better CR? Will it really matter?

It has a 4.375 bore. What would you suggest.

Thank you

I ran the Source gaskets for a while on aluminum heads, no issues. A small amount of CR change will not be noticeable.

Where does your piston sit in the hole. You need to know that first.
