The best is a matter perception but TTI probably #1. Hooker makes a good header also it depends on what you want. Do know what primary tube size you want? I would say 1 7/8" primary with 3" collector. 1 3/4" primary Hedmans or Doug's will work on a 383. I would not go ant larger 1 7/8 unless it is stroked out.

thanks..i want something thats gonna fit and not give me too much trouble.should i just stick with the hp manifolds?

That is all a matter of preference whether to use manifolds or headers. Is it a a stock 383 or what? If you are wanting to add bolt on hp upgrades headers are a great place to start. On some engines the right headers can make as much as 60 hp over conventional restrictive exhaust manifolds. Header and collector gaskets are sometimes a problem but with new copper gaskets most of the heartache can be removed. A old hot rodders trick for paper style header and collector gaskets is to soak them in a bucket of water over night and the install. Crank, run and drive the vehicle and retighten the header and collector bolts. I have dooubled the header gaskets before using the same process. Stage 8 bolts are a nice upgrade to keep the bolts from backing off when using headers.

Whatever brand you buy, unless you like that rust look, get the ceramic coating.

I just got a set of Schumacher headers. They are made for Schumacher by TTI, so they match TI quality. they are a Tri Y header, so they leave a little extra room underneath and next to the starter, etc. They are a very good design for a street car with a stock build or even a mild upgrade. They sound good and offer a ceramic coating. Great header for a guy who wants the sound and feel of headers without giving up low end and without the fitment and dragging problems. I think their website is under Schumacher Creative industries or something similar...

Well probably your absolute best bet for a header would be TTI. I personally will be utilizing a set of ported 68' HP manifolds on my 66' Satellite. I am going for the sleeper appearance with 512 CI Stealth aluminum head, Weiand 8009 Action plus intake, TTI 3" exhaust, with a 620 lift hydraulic roller. All that painted turqouise with unsilenced air cleaner on top. Stock appearing including 14" wheels with hubcaps.

A 620 lift cam with stock 14"'s. :icon_monkey:...Might I recommend buying 6 or 7 sets...you are going to need em.

The rear wheels are Stockton 14 X 8's with Hoosier 275 55 14 which is a little larger than a 255 60 15. I know the engine will have enough torque to shread whatever I put back there. Nothing like getting your a** handed to you by grocery getter with hubcaps. The specs on the custom grind hydraulic roller Comp camshaft is 230/236 @ .050 advertised 280/286 with 622/624 lift w/1.6 rockers.

TTI. Ceramic, polished. Light, cool, and long lasting. Buy from a vendor, not direct.
