67 coronet new 904 trans and already tail bushing wore out. Drive shaft too short measures 55.5” cl to cl joints. U can see in pics how far it stuck out of trans about 3”.
8.75 rear all oem stuff locations.

When pulled my yoke has a machined step down and then spline starts. So I have no splines until 3” in on yoke. In pics u can see my tape line is where I marked yoke before pulled. Basically I only have 1 3/4” of spline being used on yoke. What is this yoke? Oem? Wrong one? Need help was going to lengthen my driveshaft about 1.5” longer but not sure now what to do.

Is the driveshaft original to the car? It is too short. Or, you said a "new" 904 trans. Did it have a 904 before, or a 727? Does your new transmission have a shorter tail housing than the original trans? Something has gotten changed.

Original 904 trans and rear end to the car. I thought it was original driveshaft but doesn’t look like it.

Ya you have the wrong drive shaft length. That is about 2" too short. The tail shaft bushings don't wear out if the drive shaft is close to correct.

You need to find a shop with a driveshaft stretcher.

727 it looks short because of the short seal cover. The out put shaft is at 1" to1.25" on tape measure.

I have a shop that can lengthen the shaft yes no problem. To me I need 1.5” longer looks like. But trying to figure out my yoke situation compounded to this problem

@Uncle Don I have a 1967 Factory Parts Manual. Looked up the driveshaft and yokes. According to what I am reading, the Coronet with a V8 is the W2 car line series. The only Coronet V8 showing a 904 trans is for the 273 engine. The 318s show as having 727s. Anyway, the driveshafts were apparently available in 2-3/4" and 3" diameters. Part numbers 2883-569, and 2660-550 respectively. The lengths are listed as 56.17". The front yokes are 2530-894 for one that has a 1-1/4" I.D. with 25 teeth, and 2660-669 for one that has a 1-7/16" I.D. with 29 teeth. (Those front yokes are the same across all car lines from A body to C body.) I will attach pics of the pages, but my new smart phone is too darn smart for me to get the pictures loaded the right way. You can twist your head if you want to see them.... LOL

Ahhh. My driveshaft measures the 2.75” diameter. Guess I need to be getting me a new 904 yoke. Any suggestions?

Why do you need a different yoke? Because there is the area of no spline so you can get the yoke started on the shaft??
Clean the seal surface off the yoke, and see how far it will go in the Trans.
The yoke is normal.

this is great info, i appreciate the input and your time.
i ran across another 904 yoke, splined the entire length and measures 7" or so... im going to try both and shove in my trans see what i like better or fits better if any difference at all. then measure and make new driveshaft. my "mopar expert" friend states the driveshaft is not as short as you think, that from factory it would have a dust shield boot over the tailshaft and you would only see 1" or so shiny and about 2" under the boot. he said he wouldnt go more than 1" longer on a shaft?? thoughts? im getting way to many answers in different directions on this now...

It should be about 3/4 to 1" shorter than the max length.
