If it's a slip yoke trans, it pretty much has to be for a '65 model year car. Curious why you think it might not be??...... The cast pieces; case, tail stock, valve body halves, etc, will have the circular type date code indicating the month, and '64 or'65 inside the inner circle, if indeed this is a factory stock trans. HOWEVER, if im reading the date code correctly (which I may not be, as some early stuff was different)..... I got 1886 for the 10,000 day code, which is the 340th trans built on 26th of Sept, 1966. If this is true, maybe a warrantee trans???

BTW, pretty sure that trans would be very commonly used with STREET WEDGE engines, although sure if thats not the only application.

2466148 is a 1965 B and C body 383-4 and 426 street wedge.

Keep in mind that all the slip yoke parts can be swapped onto any cable shift 727 main case. There are no guarantees what it is just by the tail of the trans. Things happen after 60 years of the 727.

The seven digit number found after the part number on 67 and earlier 727s is a sequential serial number that started with 0000001 in 1962 and carried on year after year until the end of the 67 model year. Without some form of factory paper work there is no way to get an exact production date out of that number. In model year 68 they changed the format to two four digit numbers, of which the first one is the 10,000 day calendar date. It is possible that there could be some overlap of the two formats.
