Hi there,

I have made pictures with an endoscope of the inside of a subframe rail. Below you can see what the inside of the rail looks like. As a comparison, i have also enclosed a picture i made inside the rail on the other side (that one looks ok i think).

What do you guys think we're looking at here? Is that green stuff rust, or old dirt, or maybe some old coating that let go?

regards. Willem

Looks like your rusting from inside out. But hopefully I’m wrong. Good luck. KB9GIB

Pinhole in the 4th pic. You have rust issues. I'd pull the interior, open that floor and weld reinforcement from the inside. Or maybe sleeve it outside like Auto Rust Technicians cap.

Looks like the kind of damage caused by a mouse nest. I would be replacing that section if it was my car.

Definitely rust. Looks like an upstate NY car, seen plenty of them.
