They appear to have been cabinet blasted. Any idea on colors? Black? I looked on ebay. Heck if I saw that. That little rod is what I need. I guess I need to dig deeper until I find it. UNLESS some one has one on here to sell? AND THANK YOU PHOTON440

I believe the finish is called parkerizing or Maganese Phosphate, it makes it kind of a blackish/brown. That's what I did to my parts and they look pretty close to the finished products I've seen pro resto shops do. This is on a '69 RR, looks like from your avatar you have a Coronet or Bee, too small to tell but should be the same I'd think.

They aren't painted.... parkerized sounds right... the latches for the hood doors and trunk and a few other things.... it's kind of like anodized... Eastwood sells a rattle can that duplicates it

If you want the look of parkerized metal, you could try to get the look with a spray can. Or you could just do the real thing yourself. Parkerizing is a popular finish for guns, and many kits are available to coat and protect steel. Here's one example from a Canadian site with pictures of guns:

I found something that almost looks exact. Hi Temp BBQ grill paint by rustoleum. Looks almost exact.
Now I just need the connecting rod from the lever to the release mechanism. Maybe I will post in the WTB forum. Thanks guys.
