How do I know if I have a 22" or 26" Radiator?

I've had my 71 Plymouth SSP/RR for about 26 years now. Every radiator I have ever installed has required some drilling in the flanges to make it match the bolt holes in the car. Of course, I do realize that I am ordering for a 71 RR/BB and my car was orgininally a 71 SSP/SB. How do I measure my current radiator to determine if it is a 22" or 26". Diagonally like a TV? Top to bottom? Side to Side? The reason I ask is that I need to order a fan shroud.

I measured my radiator at one time and recall that it was a tad over 26" from side to side but I was not sure that was the correct measurement. Like I mentioned, I've replaced the radiator several time over the course of owning the car and they always seem to be a tad different. Like the newst one I have has the overflow tube pointing to the driver side when the overflow bottle is on the passenger side of the car. I'm just happy to have a new radiator. I believe I can have the cap cut/rotated/rewelded at a later date. I need a shroud as it does not like sitting for more than 5 minutes before getting hot. Once it gets going down the road it cools. Not quite like it used to but its about a tick above the last cool notch. Might need to invest in a new water pump at some point too.
