I'm cleaning up my backyard shop and trying to eliminate some clutter.
In among the tools and parts are several engines.
2 440s.
2 360s.
1 383.
1 340.
1 318....
Transmissions?
4 BB 727s, maybe 5.
1 SB 727.
1 904.
I seem to keep finding 8 3/4" 3rd members too. I counted 9.
It is tempting to sell off some but what if I need them some day ???

I saved the 440s to have as spares for the red '70 and my 75 Power wagon.
The 383 is the original engine to my project Charger.( Jigsaw )
The 340 is for a '71 Duster I'm going to build to sell.
One 360 is a spare for my '67 Dart, the other belongs to a friend.
The 318 is meant for a '65 Valiant convertible.
I sure have more 727s than I need though!

5-440's.
1-400 (230 casting)
1-5.0 HO
4 BB 727
1 AOD
3 46RH
2 42RH

Dang....Overdrives galore !

Dang....Overdrives galore !

I buy them as cores... $50 from the locate wrecking yard... No guaranty... I bought six, one was junk... I think I'm doing Ok.... I have plans to go O/D on the Challenger & possibly on the Coronet....

A buddy gave me a transmission awhile back, one of the electronic 518 types. It needed a stand alone controller and an aftermarket bell housing to work on a big block so I sold it.

I've grabbed a few of the 42 & 46 RE's I strip the hard parts out of them cause they have basically the same parts but the most updated version which is an upgrade over earlier components.... But the case & valve body are of no use to me..

And as far as fitting a big block there's more than one way to accomplish that....

3 440's complete 1 cast crank 2 steel
3 383's 2 without heads 1 complete
1 273 complete
4 C 440 blocks w 915 heads for each
3 other 440 blocks w/ various heads for each
3 727's 2 fresh 1 unknown condition
1 65 cable shift 727 BB unknown condition
3 23 spline 4 speeds
1 18 spline 4 speed
3-4 Various 8 3/4 pigs
All of the above may or may not be correct, but it's what I remember right now. Anything else will be a plus.

I am not sure exactly what the definition of "laying around" is but if we are going with not in a car, then I have

1 x 426 Hemi
1 x 413 (1972 RV motor)
1 x 360 (1978)
1 x BB 727
1 x A833 (1969)

The hemi and A833 are going into my 70 RR, so if we mean engine/trans not committed that see above.

Right, that 2.96 billet crankshaft cost me a pretty penny.

Funny story.. (As long as you weren't the guy selling the crankshaft) Back in the early 90's I was at a swap meet/car show out at Sears Point Raceway... A guy who owned the #42 AAR (I guess that was actually disputed, two cars exist with parts from the original crashed race car) Anyway amongst his rare parts he was selling was a 2.96 destroker crank that had come from Keith Black, He had a guy interested in it & he was holding it while explaining how it was a special forging... Just about then as I was walking by the crankshaft slipped out of his hands & hit the pavement hard.... To add to the pain it rolled about 5 feet.... Without hesitation & without a second thought (Or I probably would have kept my mouth shut) I popped off with "Looks Like it's Drop Forged Now".... :poke::poke::poke:

1 340
1 440 block
1 318 roller block
4 BB 65 push button 727
1 BB 727
2 833 4 speed
