I just bought a 1967 Dodge Charger locally. It was originally bought in Clearwater,Fl and driven to where I live in Tx.It has records of oil changes and 4 days after it was bought it was on it's way to Tx,but made a stop at a Dodge dealer in Baton Rouge,La with 986 miles to get checked out.The car has head rests,ps,pb,pw,ac and cruise control. It is a 383 4 bbl column shift automatic.White on white. It runs and drives fine.No rust on the car anywhere.Interior needs new carpet and the dash pad has 3 cracks in it.The gauges and lights still work too.Body is solid with a couple door dings and it needs paint.I paid $2500 for it and thought I got a pretty good deal since I haven't seen too many of them around.Any help on production figures would be appreciated.I'm just not sure where to find this information.I'll put some pics of it up as soon as I can get home.

he asked if it was rare....the answer is NO....its not "rare".... BUT MAN YOU GOT A GRRRRRRRRREAT DEAL ON IT. of all the chargers, although a great car, is not the most sought after, that would be a 1968 model. and i agree we will need pix of this gem ! the only "rare" thing i see here is that someone was dumb enough to sell that car for $2,500.00 and perhaps not knowing what it was they were selling. congratulations on your car.

            Yeah, pics please.

I think you should send that car back to FL (to me, of course).

I'll even give you your money back, plus a little extra for your trouble.

You may want to clarify this by telling him these numbers above are for 383-4 cars. They made 15,788 total Chargers for 1967 with various engine and trans combos.

The most unusual thing agout the subject car is the power windows. The cruise control may have been dealer added as it was not available on B bodies in 1966.

Thanks for the replies guys.I am in San Angelo,Tx.I bought the car from the third owner. He is a Ford guy and bought the car for his wife back in 1981 and she didn't like driving it at all.It hasn't been registered since 1990 because she didn't like it and the car he was most proud of was his 1967 Shelby GT 500 he bought in 1974 after coming home from the war.The Charger sat in his back yard covered up until his son was old enough to drive a few years later. His son died in a wreck before he could start driving the Charger,so it just kept sitting out back. When I asked him about the car a few weeks ago he told me the whole story and we struck a deal on it.He even kept cynder blocks under the car to keep the tires off of the ground all those years.I was surprised that the 383 fired up right away with a hot battery and some fresh gas.The trans shifts like new.The guy I bought it from had taken the big drums, leaf springs and rear end out of a 1969 Roadrunner in the 80's and put under the Charger. The 383 and a 4 spd from the Roadrunner actually went with the Charger's sale price. Will having a different rearend and brakes affect the value of the Charger?

Bitch about that dent...but I'll still take it.

                        Head rests, too. Interesting.

Also interesting that according to Bear's figures (which 696pack seems to agree with), is that almost 1/3 of the total production was 383-4 cars.

Seriously, if you want to sell that...

I thought the headrest was a pretty rare option.I also remember reading somewhere years ago that only 20% of all B bodies built had power windows.I would like to find out more about this car and the rarity of the options.I'm sure that I'll hold onto this one.If I change my mind then I'll let you know YY1.I just can't bring myself to sell any of my MoPars.Plus I bought this one because a week before I bought my father a 66 Charger to thank him for all of his help through the years and helping me build my collection. His is a 440 auto,8 3/4 w/ 3.23,fresh metal work and paint.I just put new weatherstripping, super stock springs, pst poly super front end kit, entire new interior (seats, carpet kit, headliner, guages, wiring, power pack,etc.),4 wheel power disc brakes,17 inch American Racing blvd rims. It's been a busy month!I really want to do some father/son cruises and spend some more time with him while I can. 1st glimpse.jpg This pic is of him seeing the car for the first time.He came to where I was working at the time to check it out.

                              Sweet.

I have a soft spot for white, column shift, a/c, p/w cars.

My first Mopar was a 66 Coronet with those options.

I envy you your good relationship with your father. I never knew mine.

                              Peace!

I guess another question of mine would be,is this car rare enough to put back 100% stock?Should it be rebuilt the same as it rolled out of the factory or can I paint it a different color, put a console in it and remove the column shift(I have a 4 spd 67 coronet parts car that I can use for that stuff.I won't trash the original parts.)I would also like to get rid of the 383 just because I would rather have a 400 or 440.Just don't care for the 383 and have never been impressed with them(I own 2 other 383 cars and have driven several.).I really don't know much about the 1st gen Charger and would like some advice on it.Of course I own and will be keeping this car so I guess I can do whatever I want to it,but would like to get some advice by others that know these cars and how they should be built/restored.
