How to track down a car's history?

What's the general way to track down the car's history? I bought my 66 Hemi tribute
from a dealer in Toronto, who got it from an auction in Prince George. The auction house
is out of business now, so can't get any information from them. I know you can track a
car once you find a registration in a state, but I don't have any leads for this one.
Help please!

Probably when your in Canada. The serial number can be provided to the Canadian DMV and with a fee. I bet they can get previous ownerships. They have the info. How far back is another story.
