How's your state...of mind?

I'm still working as normal, although we're locked down tight. We take our temperature when we come in the door at the beginning of our shift and wear masks all of the time. I've actually been putting in some OT, too. Other than that, it feels fairly normal - work a lot, rest at home between shifts.

Where it hits me is the grocery store. I used to like going to the grocery store, but now it's just a depressing experience. It feels like you're walking among the living dead or something. It's just weird. It's also starting to feel like this is going to be a lost year - or at least a lost summer. Especially at my age, I'm not happy about losing one of those precious summers I have left. On the bright side, we're saving a lot of money, and I feel fortunate that both my wife and I are still drawing regular paychecks. And we're still healthy. Many aren't so fortunate.

Kinda ironic. What's the saying "Hindsight is 2020"?

Working from home for about a month now and, I really like it. No real distractions. Besides work...little known fact on here about me is...I kinda hate people anyway..lol, so being at home with only my wife and son around is ok with me. I will go down to my daughters house every so often and get the cars out for some "social distancing" every so often. I will miss the Friday and Saturday night cruise ins and seeing some of my friends...but I'm really kind of a home body anyway...lol. Social distancing photos to follow...One thing that would make this better is if it was nicer outside....but that's coming.

I was able to do some research and put a name to the feeling I’ve been having. Cognitive distortion. basically where you feel unmotivated and you try to sit and think about a way to get past it. That’s the problem!! thinking about it!! trying to figure it out in your head doesn’t work because your mind keeps distorting what you’re thinking. The only way to break the cycle is to take action! I have actually experienced this while feeling unmotivated. Finally I just started welding and 20 minutes later I find myself making progress and being productive and have completely forgotten about the feeling of not being motivated.

If you got one of these critters in the garage, there's ALWAYS something to tinker with, right?
My current motivational block concerned the GTX is replacing the door hinges.
Skeered I'll hurt something if I go it alone, even though I've done it before.

Been 100% retired since I was 57. 62 now and not finding it to be boring at all. My wife and I both were in the military. We have lived and served just about everywhere between us and have seen all 50 states, the Far East, Europe, Asia etc. Have lived in some of the biggest cities in the world, had high energy. high pressure occupations and are both now happy to stay on the farm, 10 1/2 acres, here in Vermont. We are pretty much DONE with other people, stressful daily existence and all of the hurry up crap. There's months when neither of our vehicles even move. We like it this way. Stop the World, I wanted to get off. So, I did. There's down sides due to reasons for being retired but they're manageable. I guess the only thing we miss so far is favorite restaurants and completing our Vermont road map challenge where vowed to drive on every road in Vermont. We are at around 74% at the moment. Other than that, it's fine. A little concerned about family members who are working in hospitals and university. Ghost.

Sounds like a dream!!! I’ll take land and space over the city anytime!!! Thanks for serving. I served 4.5 years In Naval Special Warfare.

Retired at 55 and will be 69 in a little over 3 weeks. I'm saving some good money by not eating out!! Other than not going anywhere to mingle, things are fine with me. Do get a little stir nuts but like now, the bicycle is about to hit the road.

The worst part is not going shopping. Buying stuff, Retail therapy. Been retired for 11 years so not going to work is nothing new. I feel bad for those off work and money getting tight. We order out a few times a week and I love giving big tips to those that are out there every day for us. Had a young lady ask if I had made a mistake when I handed her the money I owed her for our dinner. I said thanks for being here. She started crying. If you can, you should. I bought everything I needed to work on our new house months ago. To all of you working, thanks and everyone, be safe!!!

My state of mind isn't much different, IF any...
Than before the Wuhan Chinese flu pandemic

Maybe a little sad for our country, good people being shut in
& those put out of work, that truly live paycheck to paycheck
Had this forced upon them, hard times, all because of the Chinese Flu

other than the grocery stores not having fully stocked shelves
the stupidity of people hoarding Toilet Paper or chicken or beef etc.
lack of produce to chose from, when it was so good, plentiful before
the Chinese Wuhan flu Pandemic

I still do pretty much what I did before,
except the fishing streams or hauling the boat to the lakes,
this time of year, many of which are shut down/gates locked
that were never ever locked down before, now too
since we have been self regulated shut in & self distancing,
all because of the Chinese Wuhan flu pandemic

other than the stock market going up & down like a damn yoyo
as long as I don't sell off anything, I don't lose anything really
most all of it, except my oils stocks, have come back near their normal
Thanks to Russia & the Saudi's oil pricing wars
that all started before the Chinese Wuhan flu pandemic

I'm wondering more about 'what will happen' ?,
after we come out of this lock down...
More than worried about getting sick or some other negative BS...
Doom & Gloom crap...

I'm an optimists type guy usually, I sort of live by, the mantra
when one door is closed, another opportunity behind the next opens up...
I think there will be an opportunity, for those to start a niche business,
because of this, we may come out of after a little time,
"better than when we went into it"...
Sort of weeding out the bad, a fresh start...
I think all the god damn doom & gloom Negative fearmongering naysayers
will get what's coming to them, very soon after this has passed
& yes it will pass, sooner or later...
& the mass medias/propaganda driving it, 24 hrs a day, negativity...

Thanks to the god damned Chinese Wuhan flu pandemic (corona virus/covid-19)

my life hasn't changed all that much

Truly noble Hey-O - I've done the same as my wife reminds me to do. Little more keyed in on this as my daughter works at a few places (Starbucks) and bartender at another place that's shutdown and the tips mean everything to these people. She's been off a few weeks at Buck's and they had paid her during the layoff and goes back Monday. More than half of the people called back though are not coming back so she's asked to work extra hours until they find staff. We've been pretty lucky and we're donating half of the stimulus cash to charities; but had to remind my better half I'm retiring July 1, we've lost a ton in the market, and facing some heady repair costs on the house...want to stay loan-free throughout all of that.

This China Virus Lockdown needs to end SOON.
I already threw a pillow at the Mini Schnauzer—things can only escalate from here.:(

As you maybe heard...as the news on this friggin changes everyday, there are people walking around just fine having the virus! An old couple no less, who were stuck on a cruise ship, both covid + zero illness. Iceland apparently tested most of their population...50% covid +! WTF? How many of us are actually walking around now covid+? Now the lens is on India pondering why they don't have a serious issue, thus far anyway? They're required to have a malaria vaccination. These people have enormous serious health problems and 4 times the pop size of the USA, and live on top of another. Although most of their pop is younger and are under a home in order. Anyone wanna say "crap shoot"? Only deal as I think is testing all of us...if only.

I'm beginning to get stir crazy, I haven't worked most of the year with break downs and health issues. My usual schedule is gone 2-3 weeks at a time and I've done that since 1981. Looking at least 3 more weeks.

One of my jobs went 3 more weeks away yesterday and the other will not be open till the 24th if it doesn't get bumped also. Then there is the governor's decision. Maybe some time in May.

At least we can file for our weekly 600 fed money next week.

Been retired since 2012. High stress corporate job. Don’t miss the politics and the never ending demands but have to admit I do miss the juice from landing big deals. Insurance is considered essential so my peeps are still working. No stimulus moneys here. Even if I did get some I’d donate I tips and charities that I’m sure are way down. Also have been slaughtered in the market. Hanging tough for now. Whomever said 2020 is the lost year had that right. Definitely worse, than the Y2K scam. This is the real deal.

Essential here.. Work every day.
3 deaths in my county to date. Lotsa cases & talk from ppl at work who have had odd upper respiratory/pneumonia symptoms in the early part of the year, me included...
Gona be very interesting how Covid aftermath pans out....
