I picked up a set of the new Hurst Mag Wheels at a swap meet, (see picture). My question is, does anyone have any idea how I can strip the black paint/powder coating off of the wheels without staining the aluminum? I'd like to polish the spokes to look like the originals from the 60's.

There's a huge difference between paint and powder; you'll find out very quickly if it's only paint.

There are two ways to strip the powder coating without damaging the aluminum.
1. Burn off oven - most powder coaters have one. It will literally burn off the powder coating, but won't hurt the aluminum. I recommend this method.
2. Soak in methylene chloride. This is the old-school paint stripper. Methylene chloride has been proven to cause cancer AND it will knock you unconscious if you breath more than just a little bit. This is a dangerous method.

sand blast it off, then polish what you want. if you can find a dustless operator in your area that works best.
