Who makes a good one, new or reman (even though I prob know the answer here) Car is 68 Plymouth sport sat (Gtx clone) 440 power brakes fronts have been switched to disc. Looking up parts they ask engine size and disc or drum. If it was originally drum would I need that mc or one for disc. :eusa_doh:Thanks

You need one for a drum/disc combo. Main reason being is the reservoir for the drum (rear) has a built in residual valve. The disc reservoir will not. I guess you could buy a disc/disc style reservoir and install an inline residual valve, but why create more work for yourself. Don't know if you seen or not, but on my bird I converted from a power drum to power disc/drum combo as well. Below is the master cylinder I went with. My brakes work excellent with the Bendix booster and a Wilwood combination proportioning valve for the rear.

You'll need a disc/drum M/C for sure. Main thing is do you know what your current setup it out of? Was it OE from another Mopar or aftermarket? If OE, just punch in the year/model and go with that, if aftermarket...well I think some research is in order. Sorry if I'm stating the obvious.

Well that conversion isn't unheard of. You can probably spot check easy enough to confirm it as a Dart conversion. Probably just as well to get it out of the way for that day when need to get a caliper/rotor or brake hose. You'll know what you have then.

It may sound dumb but how would I confirm it, I have no clue.

Heck, that isn't a dumb question at all!! Mind you I'm only saying for you to check it so that you don't get the wrong item plus you have the benefit of knowing what you do have.

If I was in your shoes and knowing MY luck, which tends to run on the less than smooth side of life, I'd just pull a tire and see what the setup looks. I'd focus mainly on the caliper and compare it to a '73 Dart setup. Actually '73-'76 Dart setup. My main point here is to make sure you don't have an aftermarket affair. Or you could just roll the dice and buy a 1973 dart M/C. You could get into the nitty gritty of it and pull numbers of the back side of the spindles, etc, etc, just I don't know if that much work is necessary.

i've got a new mopar 4 bolt disc/drum master cylinder for the a-body conversion that i won't be using. it came in a disc kit i bought. i never used it. it's supposed to be for a '73-'75 a-body with discs. it has a 1 1/8" piston. if interested shoot me a pm.

Don't know if that would fit a 68' B body????

I was told it was front brake conversion from a 73' dart

Your brakes look like this sublime? This is early-mid A-Body style.
