I'm getting my 68 coronet hardtop back together and I'm losing steam. Did the bodywork and paint so far and buffed it. Put some chrome on. I just wanted to post this to keep me motivated as I'm losing steam. Thanks

Divide the work that's left into "mini-projects" that can be completed quicker.
As each one gets done, you get that little kick, that satisfaction that comes out of
        completing something.
The keeps you motivated, I've found - and if your funds and/or health are limited,
        it doesn't deplete you, either.
Worked for me over 8 years on mine.

        Now...GET AFTER IT!
Do you have any idea how fortunate you are to have one this far completed?
There's thousands of people who would LOVE to be in your shoes with that gorgeous car
        right now.
        Let's go. I wanna see PICS!

Buffing an entire car will wear you out. Hang in there. I HATE buffing!

I used 3 m 3 stage buff compound so I've been over most of the car at least 3 times

I feel your pain, and I'm 7 feet tall. Doing the hood and deck lid just kills my back and neck, not to mention washing the compound out of everything before it turns to granite. The buffer makes just the right sound to attract 16,000 small gnats as soon as I hit the switch. I think I would rather have a root canal than buff a vehicle but it's something you have to do yourself and get it right.

Nope, sorry. You should give in and quit. It’s not worth it to get it back together from there, just too much to do. Tell you what, I’ll do you a solid and take it off your hands as is, yes as is, for a couple grand. Don’t hesitate as this offer won’t last long. I already have plans To roast the tires off it after I finish the 3-4 days of solid work to finish that kick ass car....... :-/

Get after it dood! The finish line is near. :)

Sometimes for me, just go to a cruise night and have a nice dinner or go out on the water and enjoy someone else's car. Or drive one that's already done out in the country, get relaxed and appreciate what you have got done so far and slow down a bit. When you're rested up, your mind will start to energize your body a bit more, it won't be instant.

I think it's safe to say the worst is over. The little nit picky stuff is what's left. It can be fun if you aren't on a big deadline.

We aren't afraid of unibody restos. LOL If we wanted the easy stuff we would be unbolting Chevelle bodies from the frames and buying parts from Amazon

I agree with Moparedtn. Attack a small area and make it the way you want. Stand back and admire your little victory. Do the dance, drink a beer or three, and enjoy. Take a day and push it out and clean the garage. That also makes one feel better.
One of my secret weapons is to find a 12 to 15 year old in the neighborhood who is a car freak. At 72 it's a job for me to pick stuff up off the floor. These guys will kill to learn and are tireless. Plus they make great buddies. JMHO Dave

You're in the home stretch! That doesn't mean it's the end of the game. It is merely the end of a chapter and the next chapter is miles of smiles and good times.
