installing new gas tank

do anyone have any pics of how the straps are positioned behind the tag,i slide them in,seems that they were sort of setting a little twisted upwards before i removed them.,i have then in now temporarily and the the ends are setting down flat,see pics below, is this pic correct way or not. thanks thanks

Did mine yesterday. Your pic is correct. Good luck with the rest of it. It is a lot easier than I thought it would be. Hardest part was putting the vent tube in the rubber sleeve.

did you put anything on fuel neck to make easier to slide in tank. thanks

You can use a little Vaseline. Don't let your wife know your useing it in the garage...

I put it in boiling water for a few seconds to soften it up, then put it on the tank then the filler tube slide right in.
