Intake Manifold Removal

On a 440, is it possible to remove the intake manifold without pulling the distributor? I am looking to remove the manifold to replace the valley pan/gaskets and to repaint the manifold and would like to do this without having to mess with the distributor. I do have a lift off hood, so there is plenty of room to manipulate the manifold.
