Is the hood latch bracket/brace black or body color?

    This '71 for sale on ebay has a body painted bracket behind the black lower grille section. What color was it painted at the factory? Thank you.

    Mine is the same color as the factory paint (dark gold) but not clear coated. No clue if it’s factory though (it’s not even in the car anymore lol

    Should really be body color with some blackout sprayed over it so as to not let the bracket be seen through the grill.

    That's good, because factory paint in 1971 was single stage. Nothing should be clear coated.

    Oh ok neat. I had no idea, the body has been through several paint jobs from previous owners so I’ve never seen the original color other than on the bracket which was in the trunk when I bought the car haha
