1970 Dodge Dart Swinger 340. I've never seen
anything like this.
If OEM. where do the hoses go when the hood
is closed?
This was found on "Barnfinds" website.

Interesting things happen to our old cars, in the name of performance.

Would of been nice if the factory actually made it functional like a 1970 R/T, or offered over the counter parts to do so. Maybe an opportunity for a limited run of said non existent parts?

Drag racers in the '70's modified things that way. Not OEM, but worked.

Good idea. Could a N96 assembly be cut to fit?

I sense an intervention is in order.

I saw that this morning, but I figured it would be best to not post that innovative induction system.

NO, an interesting mod by someone that had an idea. Not anything like an N96. Stock unsilenced 340 air cleaner with snorkels added to use flex hose to the hood scoops with were modified to allow air intake. A clever hot rodder.

Those hoses gotta go somewhere with the hood
closed. I would think there would be some
interference issues.

'The Poormans' :carrot: n96 forced induction :fool:
looks more like 'Redneck/Oakey or Appalachain mountain' engineering

:usflag:

you'd think he'd have a fixed hose/s
(stays with the engine/aircleaner side)
the seals to a rubber grommet/gasket plate of sorts
mated up to the hood 'that's separate'
(that stays with the hood side)
so it wouldn't be an issue,
sort of like a Stage II-ish Buick GS hood

I've seen some routed to/thru the radiator support too
sort of old forced induction/fresh cool air trick

there have been ones done using the neg air pressure at the cowl
to get the air to the ducts too (Nascar)

guys have done the fresh air route
on cars with quad headlights deal too
where the inner-bulbs are removed, take out the buckets etc.
have mesh over it/the holes/trim etc. & get fresh cool air thru duct/s
to the carb/air-cleaner too

:luvplace:

Yep cost a whole $10 at pic-a-part. Air cleaner (Cordoba and Omni air tube)
Yea hawa !
