So plans are to tour the country in an old ride that gets 20 plus mpg. The imp not close so starting with new platform. 64 4dr belvy. Nice clean rust free Texas car. 318 poly, pb trans, manual brakes and steering.. In the works 5.7 with a500. Rear gears and tires. For now, that will get the wheels turning. Later on brake upgrade, interior, paint and body. Goal is to drive by end of summer. Being a single truck owner/op business comes first, not a lot of spare time. Wish me luck.

Good luck! On the other hand, you can make your own luck with the right preparation.

Oooh, your Imperial had a baby brother now. They look great sitting side by side. Certainly more mpg is great for your touring the great states of the USA. Are you considering a/c too?

At the Spring Fling in Van Nuys last year, there was a couple of Canucks with a 64 powered my a slightly modded 6.1 with an A500. Said on his trip down that he hit mid to high 20's on the mpg.

Yes ac will be on short list. Power buckets from 300 unless I find pillow tops from early 80s fifth Ave, new Yorker. Cruise control is on list also.

Seen a fella on the tube with believe 70 coronet, 6.1 6 speed headed to power tour while back. Claimed 27ish. Figured if it was anywhere accurate 20s should be fairly easy.

So this it what we have. 318, pb, man steer and brakes. Other than hood, very minimal rust if any. Believe the finish paint work was just rough. Floors were replaced at one time. Running driving car. Plans are 5.7 hemi, a500 od and gears for now. Want a nice daily that can go on cross country trips. New dual pot master and painless wire have arrived so guess we'll start there.

Looks like barbee' s car went to a good home

Interior not much to start with but gives me plenty of options. Thinking buckets, maybe electric something comfortable for the long rides. Front two door panels need replaced and rear seat re-done. Will be using the holley system for efi on hemi so I know it will have a screen for gauges but gunna use as much factory also. Under dash heat and air is on short list of priority items. Hoping to have new power, in town driver by late fall.

I need to clean out trunk but here in nebraska that's usually one place for rust and rear quarters. One spot on quarter but believe it's paint bubble or body work. Trunk is still covered in factory ish hard rubber.

Been a busy couple months but car finally in garage. First thing pull motor and trans. BTW if anyone needing a 318pb it's gunna set in my trash pile. Have a video of running with 50psi oil. I'd give away just so it doesn't junk yard. Next step, clean underside and do some plug/spot welding of floor pans. They're basically tacked on the brace edges. We'll be back with pics and updates hopefully sooner than later

Progress slow, been a busy eventful year. Time for updates. So far complete rear rebuild drum to drum. Front suspension and brakes completely redone. Wheels, fuel system, some interior worked and in middle of wiring now. Plans changed some to get a true comparison. Staying with 2.76 and 727 but using carb 5.7 hemi. We'll check in again hopefully a bit quicker next time
