Had the TQ rebuilt on the Cordoba and just got it back today. Still in the process of some engine detailing so hoping to get it on this weekend or next.

Nice to see a good looking carb! Looking forward to the engine pics!

My 340 Cuda had one and it turned out to be the best street (never tried to race with one) I ever had on a car! The learning curve was a bit harder but once I got a handle on it, it was great and pulled down good mpg too. The hardest thing to set is the secondary air door if you do not have the tool for it. That tool makes it so much easier....

Looks great.
The last thermobog I had backfired on a hill, caught the hood insulation on fire and burned the car down, was in a 74 Chrysler new yorker.
Keep a fire extinguisher handy

Had backfires with many different brands of carbs and carrying a fire extinguisher is always a good idea. Seems these days electrical fires in cars is the biggest problem. It's unreal how much wiring is in cars now....

lol either keep a fire extinguisher handy or keep your air cleaner on

Crazy thing was the air cleaner was on . I didn't know it had caught fire until the smoke and steam fogged up the windshield . It actually kept running too.

I am curious, as I noticed the throttle valve rods for the primary and secondary don't have the green Teflon anymore, so were they recoated and were they bushed on both sides so you don't get any air leaks there? Also, it looks like the air valve and choke valve are painted, are they or are they coated with something? Just wondering because if anything was painted its going to dissolve or run when fuel hits it!

Honestly, I am not a carb guy so I can't say for sure about the bushings. I believe it is a coating. Actually put the carb on last night and wound up putting new plugs in also as some got fouled because of the previous carb issue. Actually took the car out for a ride today, and for the first time with the T's off!, and it actually ran great. Need to do a little fine tuning but other than that I am quite happy with the results.

If this isn't out of line, can you let us know who did the work? I have a couple of TQs that I would like to have rebuilt, and have been looking for somebody who knows how to do this properly for a while.

I had Carburetor Specialists out of Alpharetta, GA do mine. Just as a heads up, as you can see mine was coated so if you are looking for Concours or something of that nature I don't think you can get that here but does not hurt to ask.

Anyone wanting a O.E. Restoration go to HARMSAUTO.COM.I had a TQ done by them.My cost was $450 and worth every penny.
