Hi all.
Have a leak at the caliper hose junction after removing disc caliper to service it.
LOoking at the hose end and the thread in the caliper i cant see how this seals. I believe these brakes were used in some 1971 and up Dodges. So hoping someone may know something about these.
The hose does butt up to the caliper but i dont think this is where they seal. There is a taper inside the hose end but inside the caliper doesnt look like it is tapered to match this, it looks to be tapered downwards to the inside of the hole.
I thought maybe there's meant to be some kind of sealing washer here but the caliper mating surface ia very rough so dont think that is the case.
Any ideas much appreciated.

Thanks guys that makes sense, ill see if i can find something to fit.

If you find some copper washers, heat them up red hot with a propane torch etc. and let them cool down to anneal them. You need all the help you can get, by looking at the caliper sealing surface. You could dress the surface with a file if necessary.

Good idea, I did think i should clean up the caliper where it seals but didn't think of annealing the washer.
I can't figure how it sealed before I removed the hose the way it is but it never leaked.
I dont know remember there being a washer when I pulled it apart either. Cheers

Annealing copper you actually want to quench the washers in cold water... Unlike steel which hardens when quenched...
They anneal to a point when allowed to cool naturally but quenched makes them softer...
