I haven't had much of an on-line presence for a few months as life's interesting fates have interferred with my leisure time. Therefore
I have been looking forward to a long week-end away from it all and had planned a trip to Redding for the Kool April Nites friday night cruise.
So I loaded the car

& headed out of town the back way down the mountain.
It was a very nice morning and I was REALLY enjoying the drive.

WHERE I WAITED FOR THE TOW TRUCK!

1st glitch in 3 years of up & down the west coast.
The electric fuel pump fried. Ironically enough, the last tow I had was when the fuel pump pushrod mushroomed so bad I couldn't get it out necessitaing the electric one. This was/is to be the last trip with the original engine. The new one will be going in soon and this one properly freshened up as it deserves.
We stopped by Pope Valley Garage to pay the fare.
More pictures of this historic place later.

& I managed to get the dead thing on the rack.

To be continued...

Well, that colour combo on your car should hopefully make you feel a little bit better about that bad situation. Nice looking car! Good luck with the new engine and sorting out the fuel system!

Sorry!!!! always worry about a brake down. That was a good place to do it though NOT on a busy highway.
Had you had Hagerty Insurance the Pope bill would have been paid in full.
Room in that red tool box for an xtra pump for the next trip?

I rarely worry about breaking because the car is so reliable.
That tool box w/ S&K, Craftsman tools in it was an 8th grade graduation from my motor-head uncle, RIP.
I've had & used it 40+ years! Still have ALL the tools but the 1/2" deep socket is cracked. Just haven't gotten around to returning it yet:thumbsup:.
I have Hagerty & AAA Premium. A fuel tanker accident on 29 that was using up resources. AAA told me they couldn't get anyone there until 8:30, THE NEXT MORNING & told me I should arrange my own tow!
I got flabbergasted & couldn't think straight.
I WILL be making some phone calls to sort this out.

I also had a new pump in the trunk (& pretty much everything else "I" can fix beside the road.
I crawled under & decided I didn't want a faceful of fuel just then & it was early enought in the day to get a tow, fix it & hit the road again...
My legs would have been in the road and the traffic was horrendous from both directions because of the detour so I opted for better safe than amputated.
I couldn't have pulled over any more when I coasted in because another car was there.
4 people stopped, asked to help (& took pictures & told stories of, well, you know...)
It was attracting a lot of attention from drivers going both directions so I didn't want to add to it by flopping around in the road.
If I had gotten a timely tow I would have kept going as the car was repaired & running @ 5ish but I was pooped and traffic unbearable. I will set out again later this morning.

Car is warming up & beautiful weather again.

Sounds like you had an adventurous day after all

not if it's gonna' break down
it's when it's gonna' break down

cool looking ol' vintage garage/shop

sounds like fun after it got fixed

Been there done that. The Edelbrock Street 150 GPH quit. At the Sultan Sea! Was on the way to Vegas from LA. OVERNIGHT from Summit to the Ski-Inn. It subsequently failed in Alta Vista at 6000 feet. Good news, had Daruis with me the first time and broke down in front of a car guys house the second time. Went home and put the mechanical
pump back in and never had a problem since. Love your road trips. Looks like you caught a break on the weather too. Last time I was in Redding we BAKED. Home to Napa will be a picnic.

The break down is all part of the trip, didn't need to happen on you NOW, but crap happens!! Nice pictures of the vintage garage and as always, thanks for the ride along!!!!

You fill up the trunk almost like we do. Leave room for the beer and revolver.

In Redding without further incident.
Thank you LORD!

Surrounded by mighty MOPAR muscle here.
Have seen more MOPARs just checking in than I saw the whole time last year.

Another green Charger! Keep em coming.

I know I say it all the time but, I love that hood!! That's it, I buying a 65 hemi scoop. Won't be like yours, but, a better view anyway

I am having trouble posting pics since I had to get a new phone & 'up grade'.
I wish I didn't have to have all these new 'features' :realcrazy:
Here are some pics of the friday evening cruise (I hope).

...it is taking way to long to load a single picture with my poor service. So I am going to settle for a couple tonight (IF that happens) & try some other time when/where things load quicker.
