I have a 62 Fury convertible that will probably go to my daughter. When i'm done I want to build something for my son. I have more time than i do budget. Looking for Something not already chopped up and not a rust bucket. Doesn't have to have a 440 built out. I'm thinking about a great car that's not the hottest car on the market right now. Whats the sleeper that in 10 years everyone will be looking for. You guys always have ideas?

73/74 is starting to gain, but still affordable.

Lots of the neat stuff and interchange of 70-72 (slap stick, pistol grip, rallye dash, rallye wheels, etc) at a discount price.

You get disk brakes automatically, and it's more common to find A/C and PB/PS.

5K could get you in with a nice clean straight body.

esp 318 and 400-2 cars.

75-79 still has some interchange, is just barely starting to creep up in price, and can add T tops.

Also much more common to find A/C, and common to find leather interior and P/W, if you like that.

I've seen super nice ones under 4K

71 b body :) their still relatively cheap ,have all the cool options ,and still had the horsepower :p

I'm seeing 67-68 mustang coupes rise and I think they will just keep going up. Mopars are just gonna climb climb climb because around my shop everyone that comes in from 10-80 just loves the Mopars.

How about a mid 70s Dart Sport or Duster? They can accomodate wide rear tires and a big block fits!

pre-1968 can still be had for a lot less than 68-71.

A-Bodies are the best deal in mopars right now. ....IMO

There was a really nice 74 Roadrunner GTX for sale up here in Jacksonville a few weeks ago, but I think it's gone now. That's the car I would suggest, but then I have a bias. I've been hearing the 73-74 cars are gonna be THE NEXT BIG THING since the mid 90s and it hasn't happened yet, and I doubt it ever will.

I would look for a good 68-70 project as they seem to be showing up everywhere these days.

i personally think the A bodies will keep steady,or go up more.
they are the smallest and lightest, and that will count for something.
plus,current public perception of a b-body or c-body car..
>>>> wow,thats a big car. <<< versus an a-body.

i dont think the later 70s car will Ever rise.
they didnt before and they wont now.
keep in mind our gen is the only ones keeping that dream alive.
most young guns are not even looking at later 70s cars...
in fact every young gun ive sold or helped locate a car,
its been a early 70-s or late 60s ride.

i listed a cuda fastback on here a few days ago,
it sold yesterday, for 4500,that was the deal of the week.
found this, might be interesting altho the price is out there...

My second A body was going to have a big block. Even put an 8 3/4 in it.
But my better judgment and frugality took over.
A small block fits without the problems associated with the larger engine.
The car is better balanced and uses less gas for daily driving.
Small blocks are also more plentiful (still) than finding 440s or even 383s in donor cars.

And you can build a Mustang out of a catalog.
Mustangs are safe for several reasons.
I tell people who ask about my Dodge that "smart people do Mustangs and Camaros"
I'm being tongue in cheek when I tell them that, of course.

IF....and only IF...you are willing to do a NEAT Car, other than a MOPAR I tell everyone to buy one of these.......
Why?
1. HiPo Engine
2. No other American Muscle Car/Pony car Convertible made these years
3. Sure to appreciate in value
4. Good looks and performance
NOTE: being a 73, these are WAY underpriced...way under the RADAR
Hi Po 351, Richmond T-10 4-speed with NACA (before NASA) styled hood.....

I have always thought those cars were ugly.
If YOU like it, that is fine. Me? I'll pass.

if not a mopar
yeah ,I've always liked the 71 -73 Mach 1 's and boss 351's  not into drop tops but ( bad hair day )

Love the 68 notchbacks.
Thank you!
And I picked it up for $9600 in pretty clean condition.
Basically it looked like you see it...
Of course underneath I has put a lot of money and labor, but the same Mopar in B or E body form would have been double or triple the cost...

Again, WAY under the RADAR!
Great cars!

In the Mopar realm
70-75 A-Body's
2dr Valiants, Sport Darts, Scamps, Swingers, Darts,
Demons {not so much} & Dusters etc.
mostly models that pertain that are after 1973 are cheaper,
tons of them built, they're still relatively cheap & easy to build...
Even the 63-66 Darts or Valiants cheap {not the most desirable but can be made to look cool}
& 67-69 Darts 2 different body styles, from the early 60's to late 60's
but still affordable & can be had relatively/cheap inexpensive...

or 67-69 Barracudas great body style, fastback & notchback
easy to clone to make a BB or Hemi formula-S etc.
not the cheapest but I see them gaining value
in the next decade or so

Not the cheapest BUT;
even a slant 6 or 318 Barracuda no frills/low option cars
from 72-74 can sometimes be a deal
easy to change drivetrain & tons of parts available

B-bodies from 65-71 2 drs BB's are out of range
for affordable builds anymore...
Albeit there are still some deals out there if you're willing to
do a ton of rust repair or get a 318ci, Poly or slant 6 car & rework it,
some are still very affordable...

Gen 3 71-74 & especially Gen 1 Chargers 66-67
are sometimes still somewhat affordable, especially the gen 1's
gaining some market value too
