So ive seen this on other forums and its always turned into one of those 100 + page threads. Didnt see one here though. The idea is to post pics of your workspace as is, no tidying up no organizing to look pretty. Lets take a tour of each others shops, piles of parts and tools scattered included. And a little blip about the kinds of things you guys have either tools or lighting, compressor plumbing wash up sinks whatever. And yes a b body on jack stands in the crushed stone behind your house with a walmart plastic molded box socket set counts as a "shop" its the cool tools and the hardships we find work arounds for that make ever build thread we read that much cooler. And of course, if you make changes or get a new cool tool please share.

So i spose ill start. My shop is a very cozy 18x22 two stall garage with 7ft ceilings. Ive put the lighting on the outside edges of one bay, because i need to see down the side of my cars, any direct overhead lighting does nothing but shadow. Also one light over where the engine bays typically sit. I have a mid rise parallell rotary lift in that bay. Full length bench across the back usually covered in crap(as you can see) where some useful tools also hang out. My other bay is the "shop" space, With a 3in1 roll break shear. Welding cart with a mig tig and plasma cutter. And a nice welding bench. Then i have a cabinet for paint oil filler, lots of pb blaster and mystery oil, cleaning stuff etc. Main toolbox I have a nice little side room on the pathway to my connected basement. I have crammed in there a 20ton shop press, sandblasting booth, bio parts washer (i just use it for the heater with simple green instead of the microbe slurry though) and an 80 gallon 5hp IR compressor. 20170215_212533.jpg 20170215_212519.jpg 20170215_212514.jpg 20170215_213613.jpg 20170215_213621.jpg 20170215_213625.jpg

Okay, so last July I started on my new garage 20'x23', which was the largest that I could go. Used the dual LED 4' lights from Costco and they work great. No welder yet and I need a single phase motor for my big Speedaire (17.1 cfm @175psi) compressor that will be stored under cover out side, though I may downsize the compressor. Also bought a large blast cabinet off a local buy and sell for $75, with new gloves, light and tips. Moved the car in at the end of January so the fun can now begin.

haha i was going to say the exact same thing. the other thing i need to do is make everything white like he did, the mismatched coloring of my cinderblocks makes things very dark.

My main shop is 68' x 36' x 12'. It is between the original 32' x 28' barn and the newest 44' x 36' addition. 3 pole barns inline. These took years to plan and build and I hired the excavation, shell erection, concrete, sheet rock, (in the main shop painting), block work, and paneling in the guest suite.
I did all the rest of the construction and finishing. Including insulation, mechanical systems, and electrical work. I have to add that I am very pleased with the results.

man mike, what a kick ass space. i never really thought about pole barns being finished, insulated sheetrocked shop spaces, since its the simplest form of barn construction, i always picture bare walls and a dirt floor, but thats a great idea. problem is i dont think pole barns are really allowed around here, building permit wise, we require minimum 36" frostwalls on subfrost footings for any human occupied building. id have to double check though.

Ok, here goes.... 28 x 12 single bay. Concrete floor, barn wood or bare 2x4s walls, 8 ft ceiling. I placed lights on the end over the roll up door for light when it's closed, lights on both sides for side panels and lights at the front of the bay for engine. 2x4 shelves along one wall plus odd shelving filling in the spaces. L shaped bench with shelves over top. spare metal and sand blaster tank next to cabinet. Shelving unit and the door to the hallway between house and garages and apartment over garages. Two stand up boxes holding any long trim or long parts from interior/grill etc, 10 gal spare gas tank, 8 3/4 rear, more 2x4 walls with all manner of stuff hanging. 60 gal compressor in other corner with air handling tubing up and over the ceiling and down two sides. This small tool chest is all I have now a days but it suffices. 90* AMP wire welder, assorted power tools and supplies. Also a full basement where the glass is stored.

I've got 3 between my dad and I, a small woodshop, a 32X100 and I'm in the process of building a 34X32 2 story with a 24X24 attached parking garage. I started it in Sept, block foundation, 2X6 framed walls, metal siding and R19 walls R30 ceiling. Here's a few pictures of it as it sits.

This shop serves me as both woodworking, and vehicle. Footprint 50x32 , vehicle area 36x32,.... woodworking and whatever I need it for area,.....14 x 32. It works well, but it is just not big enough!

I entered a draw at a beer store on a whim (as I never usually do) and won the Bud Light table. As for the white walls, my wife wanted me to paint it some color, but I wanted as bright as possible without being pure white. There is a subtle hint of grey. She suggested a darker blue. Ya, don't think so...
